2019 Update!

9/9/2019

Hello! Well, its been quite a while since I have updated this website - its been a busy time in life.
This year, I surpassed the $50,000 mark in my fundraising for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk! How exciting. is that? Last month, I participated in the Michigan 3-Day with about 400 walkers and 250 crew - we raised over $1 Million for the fight against breast cancer! Go Pink!
I have signed up to walk in Chicago in 2020 - this will be my 12th 3-Day. I hope to keep going until the cure is found. Each year I meet more people affected by this demon, and I want it defeated!
I will try to be more consistent in posting updates - fundraising events and activities, but you can also check out my Facebook page for other information.

April is here and the fundraising has begun! We have already been at 2 events - the Dayton Home and Garden Show and the April 23 edition of 3rd on 3rd.
The Home & Garden Show was great - we met lots of people, even the Buck-Eye Guy (for you Ohio State fans)!
We have signed up for three of the 3rd on 3rd Market Days. This is a great Market Day located on the corner of 3rd St and Bates. We had a lot of fun and had great weather. We will be there on June 18 and July 16.
Another new event for us is the Miamisburg Spring Fling on May 20-21. See you there!

Wow, the festivals are upon us! Englewood, Clifton, Holiday at Home, Marigold and now, a brand new one - Crown Market & Country Gardens Fall Festival!
It's happening this Saturday, October 24 in Springfield!
After getting rained out in Huber Heights last weekend, we are really looking forward to some nice early Fall weather.
OH, and can you believe its only 3 weeks until the Philadelphia 3-Day! OMG! I really haven't trained as much as I had hoped, but between lots going on at work, soooo many festivals, the weeks have flown by. I am working out at the YMCA 4-5 times a week, so I think I'll be fine. If I have a problem, that's what the Sweep Vans and Sag buses are for!  Really excited! Gonna be great!

Hi Again!
It's been a while since I've posted, been busy training and working. Philadelphia is less than 10 weeks away! We will be set up at the Englewood Arts & Crafts Festival this weekend, and then from here until October we have a festival almost every other weekend!
The 3-Day has published the schedule for next year, and it looks like I'll be walking in Philadelphia again - this time in August! I'm excited!
I'll try to update the events calendar so you will know where I'm going to be. Most dates are set, a few are still tentative.

Well, its that time again! Training for the  Philadelphia 3-Day and fundraising in 2016 are well under way! I have been working out at my YMCA 5 days a week to build up my stamina (and lose some weight) and next week I will start "official" training walks. I have posted one for next Saturday, and will try to post a walk as often as I can. I'll be putting the information on FaceBook, and will welcome anyone that wants to walk with me, doesn't matter if they are a 3-Dayer or not.
We had our first fundraiser in 2016 a few weeks ago at the Dayton Demolition Hockey Game. Every year they have a "Pink in the Rink" night, and have generously allowed us to set up a table to sell our merchandise. The crowds there are fantastic and we have always done well.
Next weekend - March 17-20, we will be set up at the Dayton Home and Garden Show at the Dayton Convention Center. This is probably the biggest event we have ever participated in. We have bulked up our inventory of jewelry and other items and are really looking forward to a great weekend. Hope to see you all there!
Next up will be Yellow Springs Street Fair - we will once again be set up at the BP Gas Station - Thanks Jane! We can't thank you enough! More on that another time.
That's it for now. Will try to keep posting updates more often. Take care everyone!

Made it 60 miles! here we go again!

So, a few weeks ago, I journeyed to the beautiful and hilly city of Atlanta, GA to join with over 1000 walkers, crew and staff to bring attention to the battle to find a cure for breast cancer. About 800 of us walked 60 hilly miles in and around Atlanta, raising spirits, supporting each other and getting support from the wonderful communities we visited. The 2015 Atlanta 3-Day is now history! We raised over $2.2 Million to help fund Susan G Komen's programs of education, research, treatment and assistance for those affected by breast cancer. WOW! And did I mention the hills? I was told that the Atlanta walk had a lot of hills, but I never dreamed that we would be walking uphill and downhill about 90% of the time (well, maybe not 90%, but a lot!) But it was a fantastic weekend, perfect weather and just an all around great time. Thanks to everyone who helped - from training, to donations, to prayers, and good wishes. I am looking forward to next year when I will be hitting the streets of Philadelphia, PA. (Which I understand makes Atlanta seem like the flatlands - oh my aching knees!)
We were barely home from Atlanta, and we set up our tent in Fairborn for the Halloween Festival! This is one we really look forward to - so many great costumes and characters to see, and friends to connect with. Friday night was great -  chilly but dry. Saturday, not so much. Trick or treating started around 5:00 which, as it happens, was when the rain started. We felt so bad for the kids, and their parents. So many stuck it out, so did we. But around 7:30 or so, the rain really took over and by 8:00 the only folks around were those waiting to be in the Zombie Walk; so most of the vendors, including Kathy's Pink Goal, gave up and packed up. We really hated to leave, but couldn't risk getting our merchandise ruined by the rain. All in all, it was a good weekend. Good sales, and lots of donations in the jar. We have to say, we have never seen the jar getting this full so early. Can't wait to see what is in it by next summer.
Oh, and I mentioned that I am walking in Philadelphia next year, I forgot to say that it will be a special year for me. I will be celebrating my 60th birthday in June, and in October I will be walking 60 miles! So I started a team: 60 at 60! Hoping other folks in my age group will join me in marking this special year! I have set my goal for the 2016 walk at $6000! See a pattern? With your help, I'll make it.
Upcoming events: Nov 1 - Springfield High School, Nov 7 - Ascension School, Nov 21 - Fairmont High School, Dec 5 - St Helen School.
And finally, very excited to announce that we will be at the Dayton Demolition Hockey Team's Pink on the Rink night on Feb 21 and also at the Dayton Home and Garden Show on March 18-21!
Well, that's about it - See you soon- Take Care!

Women's Fair Update!

The 2015 Dayton Women's Fair is in the books! We had a great time this year as always. Sales were steady, and we got to visit with old and new friends, spreading the word to be aware. We were honored to be a part of the Women in Networking Fashion Show - thanks Cindy for modeling our new "Fight Like Girl" shirt, "Banded Together for a Cure" hat, lanyard, and other goodies.
We are off this coming weekend - time for a break, then its off to Spring Valley for the Potato Festival, and Yellow Springs for the Street Fair.
Before you know it, I'll be hitting the streets of beautiful Atlanta, GA for the 2015 3-Day Walk for the Cure!
Oh, and by the way, I am now registered for the 2016 3-Day - in Philadelphia!!!!! So Excited!

a very busy weekend!

Last weekend was a first for us. We were double-booked for shows - Vandalia Oktoberfest is always the weekend after Labor Day, and Huber Heights Marigold Festival is always the second weekend in September.......well, guess what - this year it was the same weekend!! So Kathy stayed at Vandalia and Jerry was stationed at Huber Heights. I think next year we need to figure out which one we want to do. We had a great time at both, but we decided we were stretched a little too far.
This weekend is the Dayton Women's Fair at the Airport Expo Center!! It's our biggest show of the year!! We have stocked up on our shirts, jewelry, and lots of other stuff - we are ready! See you there!

Holiday at Home!!

What a weekend! The Kettering Holiday at Home Festival was absolutely amazing! Hot as can be, yes, but the response to our booth was just as hot! Sales were better than ever, and we had so many friends and visitors stopping by, we had a great time. Folks were constantly dropping coins and bills in the donation jar, and so many people had me "keep the change" from their purchases, it was truly amazing!
But the best part were the hugs and handshakes we received from survivors, thanking us for what we are doing. That is what makes this all worth while.
Next weekend is going to be another whirlwind. We will be at the Vandalia Sister Cities Oktoberfest on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; as well as at the Huber Heights Marigold Festival on Saturday!

Fall festivals have begun

The Fall Festival season has begun! We started strong with the Clifton Gorge Music and Arts Festival in beautiful Clifton, Ohio! The weather was great - a tease of rain, but we willed it away for a wonderfully sunny weekend. The crowds weren't overpowering, but they were steady and generous. Sales were strong, and the donation jar is getting happy!
Next up - Kettering Holiday at Home!  Can't wait!
